Spanish Register of Toxicologists
Recognized by EUROTOX.

Introduction
As in other countries, national societies that have taken over the development of a Register of Toxicologists, Spanish Association of Toxicology (AETOX), under the third article of its statutes, aims as fostering the relationship and cooperation between the Spanish and toxicologists from other countries, has been a Spanish Register of Toxicologists that includes professionals in basic and applied toxicology request.
The AETOX taken into account the example set by other European and American societies and recommending EUROTOX decided to encourage domestic companies to register their jurisdiction toxicologists. The aim is to recognize and demonstrate the ability and toxicological activity of registered continuous knowledge of the persons and entities to whom it may concern.
Bearing in mind the broad spectrum that covers the discipline of Toxicology seems useful to recall the definition Toxicologist and what requirements should meet a scientist to be recognized as such:
A toxicologist is a person dedicated to the study of present or potential danger posed by the harmful effects of chemical and physical agents on living organisms and ecosystems, the relationship of such effects to exposure and mechanisms of action, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of poisoning, as well as those dedicated to the teaching of this discipline.
The purpose of the Registry is to maintain a list of toxicologists who meet the requirements stipulated, without requiring membership in the AETOX. This list shall be published once a year and it will be deducted when requested certificates. The list is also included in the Register of EUROTOX, by agreement with this, certificate shall be issued by the European.
Registered Toxicologists should observe a high level of professional competence and ethical conduct .. Otherwise you could not see the registry renewal.
Registration Committee
Inclusion decisions and maintenance in the Register shall be taken by the Registration Committee consisting of seven members including a representative of the Board of AETOX, and, at least, one member from each of the four main institutions involved in our country Toxicology: Scientific Research Institutes, National Institute of Toxicology, Public Hospitals and University, and private industry. The members act in their capacity as expert toxicologists and not as representatives of their institutions.
The Committee is composed of a president, a secretary, a treasurer and four members, and its mission is to decide on the inclusion of the applicants and their maintenance in the registry, safeguard, update and publish the list of registered toxicologists once a year, inform the General Assembly AETOX and maintain close relationship with the Registration Committee EUROTOX.
The renewal of the members of the Committee shall take place by thirds every two years in the Assembly of AETOX, a proposal from the.
Applications for entry into the Registry will be sent by email to the Secretariat of the Committee, distributed to the members of the two most closely related to the specific field of the applicant for evaluation, scale established by, and issue its decision. In case of doubt the documentation will be sent to all members of the Committee, final decision was adopted by a simple majority. In case of rejection, on the basis that does not comply with Regulation, will notify the applicant of the reasons for it.
The Committee will assess the need for physical meetings to be held once a year, in any case the, every two, Congresses coinciding with AETOX, to study possible impacts, assess the overall performance of the procedures and possible corrections, and make public the lists of registered toxicologists.

Requirements
- 1. The applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree in one of the following fields: Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Environmental Science, Science and Food Technology, Chemistry, Engineering, Medicine, Human nutrition and dietetics, Veterinary Nursing or equivalent. In the event that the applicant has different training, the committee would conduct a special assessment.
- 2.1. Have passed a written examination of other records such internationally recognized toxicologists require for your own records and have at least 3 years of experience relevant toxicological.
Or:
- 2.2. Believe, at least, 5 years of experience relevant toxicological, with training and demonstrated activity in any field of toxicology.
In both cases must be at the time of application involved in the active practice of toxicology.
- 3. Toxicology Curriculum adequate and consistent: Toxicology training, participation in research projects, supervision of doctoral theses, toxicological studies in companies or enterprises, risk assessment reports, expert reports, toxicological publications or equivalent activities. Applicants must submit a report of three expert toxicologists, each from a different institution, to support their request, confirming their experience, competence and dedication current status of Toxicology.
Application for Registration
Must be made by sending email to the Secretariat of the Committee the following documents:
- Form No. 1 (application).
- Form No. 2 (letters).
- Form No. 3 (special design of the curriculum, only alluding to toxicological activity).
- Copy of the receipt of income in the bank account of the quota established AETOX or personal check payable to Spanish Association of Toxicology. Register of Toxicologists.

Maintenance in the register of toxicologists
Remaining in the Register shall be valid for 5 years old, after which you must request the continuation in the same supporting evidence of curriculum (certificates of attendance at conferences, training, teaching, company certificate) showing the continuation in the practice of toxicology, to be evaluated by the Committee.
Registration Fees
The fee for filing the application for registration and then the same will be indicated on the website AETOX (Fees for Registration of Toxicologists), and updated regularly in accordance with the requirements EUROTOX, as its primary purpose is the payment of rights for inclusion in the List of EUROTOX and Issuance of Certificate for this.
